Diamond 4C Diamond Color
The color grade of a diamond is actually its "colorlessness". The less color it has, the higher the grade, and the more sparkling it is when light penetrates it.
1. GIA International Color Standards (D-Z)
The GIA grades diamonds from D (completely colorless) to Z (pale yellow or brown), with grades D, E, and F being the rarest, and grades G-J being virtually indistinguishable to the naked eye, making them the most cost-effective choice.
2. how to balance color and budget?
For most people, G-J "near colorless" diamonds are a great choice. They are difficult to distinguish from the top D-F grades to the naked eye when set, but are more affordable, allowing you to invest your budget in the more visually appealing "cut".
3. Color matching of the ring metal
The color of the band will affect the visual presentation of the diamond. Platinum or white gold highlights the diamond's primary color and is suitable for high grade diamonds, while yellow or rose gold subtly modifies diamonds with a yellowish tint.
Platinum / White Gold
Recommended Choices D-H The diamonds are graded to give the visual effect of an icy white color.
Yellow gold / Rose gold
compatible with G-K In the case of diamonds, the metallic color makes the yellowish tones of the diamonds less noticeable.
4. Concluding Remarks
Colorless is King
Diamond color refers to the "degree of colorlessness", with D grade being the highest standard.
G-J High price/performance ratio
It is a popular choice in the market because of its good eye appeal and affordable price.
Metal affects the appearance
White metal matches high grades, yellow metal trims low grades.
Fluorescent Reaction
Pay attention to the fluorescent markings on the GIA certificate. Strong fluorescence may affect the appearance.
