- Diamond 4C Cut
Diamond 4C Diamond Turner (Cut)
Craftsmanship is the only factor in the 4Cs that is determined by human hands, and it is also the key to the soul of a diamond's brilliance.
1. The workmanship determines the light, not the shape.
Cut refers to the angles and proportions of a diamond's facets, which control how light enters, reflects and ultimately exits the diamond. The perfect cut is the one that gives the diamond its most brilliant sparkle.
Brilliance
The intensity of white light reflected from the inside and outside of a diamond.
Fire
The phenomenon of white light being dispersed into a seven-color spectrum.
Scintillation
Flicker effect caused by light reflection when moving the diamond.
2. GIA International Turner Grade
The GIA categorizes diamonds into five grades of workmanship, with only the highest grade (Excellent) being able to bring out the brilliance of the diamond. It is recommended to choose at least Very Good grade.
Excellent (EX)
Superior
Very Good (VG)

Good (G)

3. Diamond ratio is key
The proportions of the depth of the diamond, the size of the table, etc. determine the path of the light. Ideal proportions allow light to enter from the top (table top), reflect perfectly inside, and then exit from the top, creating the ultimate in brilliance.
Shallow
The light leaks right out of the bottom and loses its brightness.
Ideal
The light is perfectly reflected, coming from the top.
Too Deep
Light leaks out from the sides and the center appears dark.
4. Concluding Remarks
Turners are preferred
Always prioritize your mechanic's grade first in your budget.
Preferred EX Class
The Excellent grade guarantees the best visual effect and value.
Symmetry and Polishing
Both of these should also be achieved to EX or VG, which are part of the overall workmanship.
It's not just about the certificate.
Observing the actual brilliance of the diamond in person is the only way to make the final decision.
