Morganite
A gemstone symbolizing divine and unconditional love.
📜 History and Stories
Morganite is a pink-colored variant of the beryl family (along with chrysoberyl and aquamarine) with a relatively short history of discovery. It was first discovered in Madagascar in 1910 and named by George F. Kunz, chief gemmologist at Tiffany & Co.
As a tribute to J.P. Morgan, America's most famous financier and an avid gemstone collector at the time, Koons named this beautiful pink gemstone "Morganite". Since then, Morganite has quickly become a popular choice for engagement rings and fine jewelry due to its gentle color.
🌍 Major Origin Distribution
The state of Minas Gerais in Brazil is by far the world's leading producer of morganite and produces a large number of high quality stones. Madagascar, where it was originally discovered, still produces high quality morganite, but in smaller quantities. Other sources include Afghanistan, Mozambique and the United States.

💰 Different quality grades and values
The value of morganite is determined primarily by its color. Unlike its emerald cousins, morganite is usually of very high clarity, so inclusions have less of an effect on its value.
1. Color
The most important factor. Pure pinks or peachy pinks with a high degree of saturation are the most valuable, and brown tones should be avoided.
2. Clarity
High-quality morganite is usually clean to the naked eye, with very clear crystals.
3. Cut
A fine cut maximizes its brightness and color, accentuating its gentle luster.
4. heat treatment
Heat treatment is a common optimization method used to remove yellow tones and give a purer pink color.
Different Colors of the Value Ladder
From pale pinks to rich peaches, the value of morganite varies with the saturation and hue of the color. Pure, saturated pinks are usually the most popular.
